Roughing it Out, SABC 2’s groundbreaking children’s environmentally themed reality show produced by Insync Productions, commences its second season on SABC2 on 28 September at 10:00 am. Hosted by the two dynamic young presenters, Chanel Hurlin and Vuyolwethu Dubese, the show puts kids through their paces, testing both their mental and physical skills in the face of adrenalin fuelled eco-challenges set in the beautiful background of South Africa’s

landscape. The show aims to teach kids about current conservation issues affecting our planet and their future in an unconventional and enjoyable way.

Sixteen contestants between the ages of 10 and 13 have been selected from across the Western Cape. The show consists of 26 episodes and each week viewers will join the kids in their rough adventures as they rough it in the Klein Karoo, dive with great white sharks, go hiking in the Cederberg and everything in between! The show is split into two rounds with two teams competing in each round. After 24 episodes the winning teams from each round will battle it to be crowned the ultimate Rough Kids!

People at home will get to follow the kids in their the challenges, see how they work together (or not), witness the trials and tribulations of adapting to nature, away from the city life, but most importantly how these dynamic kids develop as individuals, in leadership, teamwork and commitment to not only themselves and their teammates, but also to the environment.

“What is truly unique about Roughing it Out is that we’ve taken ordinary kids that other kids can relate to and we’ve shown them that conservation and the outdoors is not only within their reach but it is a huge amount of fun and they love it!” says series producer Nazrene Salie.
