Several people mentioned that they would be “Made For The Mix”, social media was a buzz around the theme and everyone was looking forward to the fashion.
It was all glitz & glam at the 2015 J&B Met with this years theme being: “Made For The Mix”. Now, when I walked I saw that exact theme. Not only from the fashion front, but the actual horses. The horses were black, white, brown & I can promise I saw a red horse. They were all decorated and well put together. So we can learn a lesson from this years’ met, if you going to create a theme, at least let the guys who are the reason we’re here in the first place follow that theme as well. LOL
Moving along, the event was sparked with life and humour. Almost everyone I bumped into was friendly, especially the celebrities. As you can guess, trying to get pictures with them was a mission and a half as everyone was scrambling for one. Khanyi Mbau stood out for me though. Not because of her outfit, but rather how bubbly yet friendly she was. She was there to have fun and nothing would stop her. She’s definitely turned a new leaf on life and left all the drama in the past.
LootLove looked beautiful in her usual self (Doesn’t she always) and the Skhanda Queen (Nomuzi Mabena) just knows how to rock that bald head of hers and still look exquisite.
From the celebrity front, you could sense that they were still in shock with the sad passing of their colleague and friend, Simba Mhere. Such sad news to wake up to on a day meant to be fun filled. The Top Billing crew wasn’t even there this year.
As the night came, the mood became more vibrant. It is at this moment one would cue the popular house hit song “Bring on the night, I couldn’t stand another hour of day light”. The dance floor was a buzz and Goldfish was there to set it a light together with the DJ’s from HedKandi. And for the guys, the HedKandi dancers most definitely provided some entertainment with their raunchy dance moves.
All in all, it was a well put together event (as always). No drama and full of fun. Can’t wait for the 2016 edition. Hopefully I get to do this again.
