Moments with Shaz by Brat

He is an upcoming
Radio presenter and a vocalist for the group called Shaz and B.  This 26year old
started gracing  us with his voice  when he was doing the Breakfast show on Bush Radio. He then decided to spread his wings into music by
partnering with some guys and created the group Shaz and B.

I met up with him on
a cloudy Tuesday on one of my worst days but he made it bright with his smile
and jokes… I’m talking about Shiraaz Shaz Ismail.

Brat: Who is Shaz?

Shaz: My real name
is Shiraaz Ismail, decided to change it to Shaz as a nickname… Shaz is a cool,
funny, kind, always willing to land a helping hand, always joking and smiling. He is
a go getter.

Brat: Where are you from?

Shaz: Born and
bred in Cape Town, grew up in Woodstock, then moved to Mowbray after a
while decided to move to Rondebosch and that is where I live now.

Brat: Being a
Vocalist and Radio personality?

Shaz:  Well everyone  wanted to be a singer  when growing up, but I was never a strong vocalist but always wanted to be a singer
and I told myself I’m going to push and push till now. When it comes to radio I’ve
always had love for it, I remember when I just finished my Radio degree no one
wanted to hire me until Bush did and that was 3years ago.

Brat: Tell me
about your career, how it took off?

Shaz: Don’t want
to call it a career yet because I’m still no there yet. Bush Radio gave me a
break .

Brat: When did it
all start?

Shaz: I’ve been a
Vocalist for 4 to 5years and  a Radio personality for 3 to  4years.

Brat: Are you dating
anyone?

Shaz: Yeah! My
fiancé

Brat: What keeps
you going?

Shaz: The passion
I see from other artist especially the ones that are not discovered yet. I like
to infuse myself with them.

Brat: What is your
take on CPT entertainment?

Shaz: It needs a
lot of revamp because it doesn’t have much exposure to the world and within the
borders ofS.A.

Brat: What can we
expect from you by the end of this year?

Shaz: I’m planning
to release 4 of my tracks and there is a project that I’m part of called 021 but
its still under raps for now.

Brat: Top 5 of
your favourite hangout spots?

Shaz: Zula bar,
Bamooda, Club 31, Subway in V&A and lastly Abantu in Long Street.

That is all we
talked about and off the record we just catched up before he had to run to a
class. You can find him on facebook if you interested in his music: Shiraaz
‘Shaz’ Ismail.

That is all from
your BRAT…. Much love angels ❤

Moments with Leo Large by Brat

On a cold rainy Friday afternoon when most people are probably at work,
or getting warm with loved ones, yours truly was at the Manhattan Café in Sea
Point to have a chat with my long lasting crush Leo Large. I was pretty
disappointed though when he didn’t bring me a gift #SadForDays

He is vibrant, outgoing, loves meeting people, exploring the world,
likes home cooking meals . Leo got his love for music from his dad who was a
punk guitar player.

This German born 25 year old DJ has taken South Africa by  storm and has
made a name for himself nationally and internationally.  We met and had a little chat over a cup of
hot chocolate:

Brat: What is your real name?

Leo: Leo Netzband

Brat: How did Leo Large come about?

Leo: I was part of a musical band called Short Process which meant
finishing you quickly . I got my name from the (Miles Styles) who gave us the
name for the group.

Brat: How did you get into Deejaying?

Leo: My neighbour, who was four years older than me, invited me over to
play with the decks at his place and everyday I used to go to his place and
play…and to cut a long story short that is how it began.

Brat: What made you move from Germany  to  Cape Town?

Leo: It was about time I live the space of my comfort and CPT is the
first place I moved to . I love Cape Town because it is has the European style, besides that
it has  oceans, whales etc.

Brat: What goes through your mind when you on the decks?

Leo: What is the next song, usually I don’t have a play list so I just
freestyle.

Brat: What do you do besides deejaying?

Leo: Music production- setting up my own company

Brat: Which one do you enjoy most and why?

Leo: Deejaying even though sometimes it gets too much.

Brat: Tell me about Get Large?

Leo: Get Large is a company that works with Producers and Artists. It helps them develop their talent and trains them in producing music.

Brat: Are you dating anyone?

Leo: No comment *Laughs*

Brat: Celebrity crushes?

Leo: Jessica Alba and Beyonce. I like dark skin women

Black ladies here, this one is for you!

Brat: If you were an animal, which one would you be?

Leo: A Lion because it knows how to lead and take action but mostly it
take cares of its businesses.

Brat: Who is your role model?

Leo: Goldfish has inspired me a lot in live production and with all the
work he has done.

Brat: What keeps you going?

Leo: Generally always wanting to achieve and to be different.

Brat: What makes you different from other deejays?

Leo: I like putting extra effort and energy behind the decks and
creating my own remixes

Brat: What do you do in your spare time?

Leo: Eat, sleep, go exercise and practise my deejaying skills.

Brat: What is your favourite CPT hangout spot?

Leo: Clifton Beach in summer and Manhattan Café for free
wifi.

Brat: Your take on CPT entertainment industry?

Leo: It has more potential to grow, has lots of talent that needs to be
utilised. It has its own vibe and that is what I love about it.

Brat: What can we expect from you in the rest of 2011?

Leo: Lots of events but stay tuned for Rock the Boat in December.

Brat: Do you do any charity work?

Leo: Yeah! I played at couple of charity events and on the 1st
of October I will be playing at Kenilworth race
course for Cansa.

We stayed for a while and chatted a lot about other things which you
don’t need to know about. However if you want to know more about Leo Large and
his where abouts around the globe check him on his website: www.leolarge.com.

That is all from me your Brat xoxoxoxo until next time much heart
